This site analysis was performed for a proposed youth hostel on the Colorado River in Austin, Texas. Each square represents a space approximately 10 feet by 10 feet in area.
Color is imbued with personality and intuitive meaning. This mapping is an attempt to abstractly represent how a visitor may perceive the site. Vibrant orange and purple defines the view corridor to Austin's downtown skyline. Glowing from across the river, it demands attention. In turn, this corridor becomes a threshold of sorts, dividing the site between the cheerful green hillside overlooking the city lights and the subdued green of the quiet meadow to the east.
